About Us

At Winkfield House, our guest house in Cape Town, South Africa, offers a 5800 m² property for our Winkfield Ridgebacks. These beautiful dogs are part of our family and enrich our lives and those of our guests.

Robert saw his first Rhodesian Ridgeback in 1992 while on vacation in South Africa on the back of a bakkie in Camps Bay and you could say it was love at first sight. His goal was to one day have a Ridgeback himself as a loyal companion. Until then, his family had always had Drathaar, with whom he slept in the dog basket even as a baby. In 2012, Robert emigrated to Cape Town and shortly afterwards the first Rhodesian Ridgback stud dog Aghilas moved in. 20 years later, his wish had finally come true. Of course, Aghilas also needed a playmate and so a few months later Dafina joined him.
